Who We Are
Located in Ukunda on Kenya's beautiful South Coast, near the Indian Ocean, Daystar is more than a rescue centre — it is a family.
Many of the children here are orphans or come from families facing extreme poverty and hardship. At Daystar we provide a safe, stable, and nurturing environment where every child can grow emotionally, physically, and intellectually.
To provide care, protection, and opportunities for vulnerable children so they can grow into confident and responsible members of society.
Our Founder
Mama Gladys felt a deep calling from God to help children who were suffering, abandoned, or living in extremely difficult circumstances. She could not ignore the pain she saw around her in the community.
With faith and a heart full of love, she responded. What began as a simple act of opening her home to children with nowhere else to go soon grew into a full mission — providing food, shelter, and the love of a family.

Empowering Children
Education is one of the most powerful tools for lifting children out of poverty. We work to ensure every child has access to quality schooling — because government support rarely covers school fees for vulnerable children, donations and sponsorships are essential.
